The Spin

Pro-Russia narrative

The former governor of the Kursk region was this week delivered justice after he confessed his guilt in this corruption scheme. The sentence of imprisonment at a maximum-security penal colony, in addition to the fines and compensation, is commensurate with the severity of his crimes.

Establishment-critical narrative

While the former governor of Kursk has admitted to his crimes, this is nonetheless a severe sentence given that he made a deal with prosecutors to assist them with their case. At least he has the chance to appeal and he will be taking that opportunity.
