Violent home invasions are terrorizing Rosedale families, and AI cameras and private security patrols are the only real answer when the justice system keeps recycling repeat offenders back onto the streets. Children are flinching at shadows and bracing doors against knife-wielding intruders — that's not a policy abstraction, but a crisis demanding every tool available. Bail reform, dedicated police resources and smart surveillance tech aren't optional extras — they're the bare minimum owed to families who just want to sleep safely.
Deploying AI camera networks and mass surveillance platforms to fight crime is exactly how governments quietly build infrastructure they'll later turn against ordinary citizens. Companies like Flock Safety and Axon are weaving public and private surveillance feeds into systems with almost no meaningful oversight, and legislation like Bill C-22 hands authorities blanket access to everyone's metadata without probable cause. Crime is a real problem, but surrendering privacy to unaccountable tech platforms is a cure far worse than the disease.
