The Spin

Pro-establishment narrative

Cuba has become a full-blown intelligence hub for China, Russia and Iran, allowing U.S. enemies to operate just 90 miles from Florida. In the face of signals infrastructure can monitor U.S. military communications and Cape Canaveral launches, a serious U.S. response is crucial.

Establishment-critical narrative

The drone threat narrative coming from U.S. intelligence looks like a manufactured pretext to attack Cuba, just like the exaggerated Chinese spy base claims before it. The island is starving, and blockaded, with no rational motive to strike the U.S. military. Attacking Cuba would trigger a prolonged asymmetric war with no clean exit, making any quick-win fantasy dangerously delusional.
