The Spin

Establishment-critical narrative

When one in five lawmakers has a household stake in AI companies, nobody should wonder why meaningful safety rules keep dying before a full vote can even be brought to the floor. A ban on congressional stock trading cleared committee and then vanished, which says plenty about who benefits from the delay. The public is begging to be protected from data centers, but Congress cares more about their own finances.

Pro-establishment narrative

The data center build-out is the best thing to happen to working-class towns in decades, bringing real wages to electricians, plumbers and techs while re-industrializing America. This, not correlative trading records that show no abnormal returns and no evidence of insider timing, is why lawmakers are fighting for pro-AI legislation. Treating broad tech holdings as a scandal distracts from a real American success story.
