This secret meeting is a massive red flag for anyone expecting real Democratic opposition. Kushner has spent years leveraging White House access to cut deals with Gulf autocrats, while holding no official government role. He deserves a subpoena, not a sit-down. Democrats need a leader ready to fight, not one socializing with the very people who should be under congressional investigation.
There was nothing wrong with this meeting. These two prominent individuals already worked together to pass landmark criminal justice reform and talking to the opposition is governing, not surrender. The housing, immigration and affordability crises won't get solved through partisan warfare alone. Jeffries prosecuted Trump's impeachment, proving engagement and accountability can absolutely coexist.
Jeffries and Kushner should be commended for trying to find common ground. But if Democrats take the House, there's no way common sense will usurp hysteria. Despite his best efforts, Jeffries won't be able to stop the loony left from conducting witch hunts and attacking him for any attempts at bipartisanship.
