Version 7.4.1
Washington has no business tilting a sovereign nation's vote through tariffs, sanctions and Oval Office photo ops staged for one candidate. Brazilians fought too hard, through dictatorship and coup attempts, to have self-determination treated as a bargaining chip. A hemisphere that still remembers the 1964 coup deserves better than another regime-change project wearing a diplomatic suit.
The foreign meddling panic is a manufactured alibi, rolled out right as the polls turned ugly for the incumbent. Odd how the alarm never sounds when a former Russian spy chief tours the capital and takes meetings at the highest levels. The real thumb on the scale is domestic: court rulings, timed benefit hikes and campaign restrictions that all happen to tilt the playing field one direction.
