The Spin

Pro-government narrative

AI should grow California residents' opportunities, not empower bosses to fire people at a whim without lifting a finger. As the technology continues to develop rapidly, workers deserve legal protections to safeguard their livelihoods and dignity. That is why California signed new laws requiring notice when an algorithm drives a layoff, requiring people to make final employment decisions and shield employees from surveillance.

Government-critical narrative

Newsom's absurd AI posturing is little more than a distraction from his appalling track record in office, with a record deficit, the nation's largest homeless population, rampant crime and billions wasted on a useless rail project as all he has to show for it. Now, with delusions of the presidency, he's choosing to spend his last days auditioning for the White House rather than fixing the problems he created.
