Microsoft just got a first-hand lesson in the Streisand effect — where attempts to ban anything on the internet only bring more attention to it. It's embarrassing that this company is so out of tune with its own consumers that it attempted to suppress legitimate criticism of AI integration, and even more so that the ultimate effect was totally contradictory to their intentions.
Microsoft's response was not thin-skinned censorship, but a practical attempt to mitigate spammers undermining servers. While this approach has been a little ham-fisted, it was motivated by a desire to keep programs running as smoothly as possible for users. The current scale of debate over 'Microslop' is a storm in a teacup.
