Churchill implemented the Balfour Declaration as Colonial Secretary and played a large role in the historical devastation of the Palestinian people amongst others. Defacing his statue draws attention to Britain's ongoing complicity in genocide and the government's refusal to uphold the Genocide Convention. Direct action against symbols of colonial oppression is a democratic duty when the justice system fails the people.
Churchill saved Britain from the Nazis and secured the freedoms that allow protesters to demonstrate today. Attacking his statue reveals the radical left's emboldened disrespect for history and the sacrifices made for liberty. This vandalism shows a fundamental misunderstanding of British history, and of who enabled modern British freedom.
