Since Assad's fall, Israel has launched hundreds of strikes and occupied land beyond the Golan Heights, making clear that it is using Druze militias that are associated with drug smuggling as a proxy force. Druze fighters sparked the clashes in the south, not the government, and it is clear that Israel is spreading false information to support its goal of dividing Syria along sectarian lines.
