Is Hungary's stripping of immunity real accountability at last or one man turning parliament into a rubber stamp?

The Spin

Pro-government narrative

Nobody should sit above the law, and a governing majority willing to strip its own leader's protection proves that principle is finally real in Hungary. Years of untouchable ministers looting public money left a rot that only serious investigations can clean out. Calling accountability a dictatorship is just the last defense of people who got used to never answering for anything.

Government-critical narrative

Dressing up a purge as justice fools no one when the targets are always the same side of the aisle. Pressuring prosecutors, forcing out heads of independent institutions and blocking the president's lawful nominee is how one man turns a parliament into a rubber stamp. A democracy where the ruling majority obeys whatever the leader wants, legal or not, has already stopped being one.
