The Spin

Pro-establishment narrative

The Sanaa airport strike was a legitimate effort to prevent Iran from further reinforcing the Houthis, whose missile and drone attacks continue to threaten regional security and one of the world’s busiest maritime corridors. Tehran’s denials do little to ease concerns given its long record of backing the group. Blocking additional weapons transfers while preserving space for diplomacy is essential to deterring escalation and preventing a wider regional conflict.

Establishment-critical narrative

Years of bombing, blockade and foreign pressure have failed to break the Houthis or bring peace to Yemen. Instead, the latest strike on Sanaa airport, backed by Trump, continues a strategy that risks further deepening the conflict. As the U.N. has warned, continued escalation could destabilize the region. Stability will come through negotiations and respect for Yemen's sovereignty, not another cycle of escalation built on unproven accusations against Iran.
