Did this prove extremism fails or did it expose how nonpartisan elections mislead voters?

The Spin

Democratic narrative

Sarasota voters have sent a clear message that book bans, gutted anti-bullying protections and culture war theatrics won't be tolerated anymore. Democratic wins throughout the state show that extreme ideology is a losing strategy. Florida communities want schools focused on kids, not political grudges.

Republican narrative

This election exposed a serious flaw in nonpartisan elections, as progressive-backed candidates won without party labels, leaving voters with no clear signal about the real ideological stakes. Informed voters were outnumbered. It also hurt Republicans that DeSantis and the party didn't pay enough attention to these races.
