It's hard to imagine a stronger bench for a country trying to shape its own AI future: Turing-winning research talent, founders who built global tech companies, deep capital expertise and senior national security experience in one room. That mix covers frontier research, commercialization, infrastructure and governance — the range this moment demands. Prosperity and sovereignty go to nations that both build and govern AI on their own terms.
A council stacked with builders, researchers and financiers still leaves the most important question unanswered: who controls the data and the infrastructure underneath it. Billions aimed at vague "data centers" and compute won't buy sovereignty when corpora keep getting signed away to foreign labs under foreign contracts. A flag on a cold building is not independence, and the empty data seat at that table proves the blind spot.
