The Spin

Democratic narrative

The Anti-Weaponization Fund was a slush fund with zero oversight, run by five hand-picked loyalists who set their own rules with no transparency. The Jan. 6 rioters who assaulted police officers aren't victims deserving government checks, but criminals who should still be behind bars. Taxpayer dollars shouldn't be funneled through a black box built to reward people who attacked law enforcement.

Republican narrative

The Anti-Weaponization Fund was established because real Americans lost jobs, homes, businesses and years with their kids when federal power was turned against them as a political weapon. Every claim is reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and anyone who can prove harm deserves accountability, regardless of politics. Killing it means the state faces zero consequences for destroying innocent people's lives.
