Was Hur's portrayal of Biden a politically loaded smear or did Biden's fight to hide the tapes expose a damaging truth?

The Spin

Democratic narrative

Hur's portrayal of Biden was a politically loaded characterization that went far beyond what his investigation required, and now activist groups are trying to seize recordings made in his own home. This legal saga is a transparent attempt to dig up anything that might make the former president look bad and doesn't serve the public interest.

Republican narrative

Biden's legal fight to block the release of these recordings exposes exactly what he was hiding — a level of mental decline that should have disqualified him from the presidency. The executive privilege claim was bogus since the recordings had nothing to do with presidential duties. Americans deserve to hear these tapes and judge for themselves.
