The Spin

Pro-Trump narrative

Demanding call logs, calendars and every Jan. 6 communication has nothing to do with whether the BBC deceptively spliced Trump's speech, with the corporation already admitting the edit was misleading and offering an apology before the lawsuit began. This time, the BBC will not be able to control and twist the narrative and instead will face the full weight of the justice system.

Anti-Trump narrative

By launching a weak legal case out of political spite, Trump has inadvertently opened himself up to further Jan. 6 scrutiny. The BBC has never denied that the video was edited, but a judgement on whether the content was misleading is dependent on further inspection of Trump's actions at the time. Trump's brazen actions are once again coming back to bite him.
