Is Badenoch's plan the answer to failed multiculturalism, a scheme too little, too late or divisive rhetoric to distract from yet another electoral defeat?

The Spin

Conservative Party narrative

Britain faces a crisis of separatism, which is creating parallel societies that threaten to undermine national cohesion and enable everything from rape gangs to antisemitic intimidation. Only the Conservatives will fix this catastrophe by ending identity politics in government, enforcing one set of rules for everyone and demanding newcomers assimilate rather than import foreign conflicts.

Left narrative

Badenoch's speech was a transparent attempt to distract from her party's historic by-election collapse with divisive rhetoric that failed to match reality. While lambasting others for their alleged role in fueling separatism in the country, she conveniently glossed over the fact that her own party engages in identity politics as well, notably in pursuit of the Hindu vote.

Right narrative

It is ironic that the Conservatives, who created this mess in the first place, are positioning themselves as the solution to Britain's growing sectarianism. Unfortunately for Badenoch, her flowery integration plan is too little, too late to be of any real use, which only serves to highlight the pressing need for more drastic action offered by the likes of Reform.
