Aussie Musician Barred from US Over Girlfriend's Trump Post

Was Chatfield's video a reckless post with real consequences or an innocent quip met with border overreach?

The Spin

Right narrative

Abbie Chatfield's reckless "joke" about incels assassinating Trump had real consequences, so her boyfriend rightfully got barred from the U.S. Border Patrol did exactly what it should when someone with ties to violent rhetoric tries to enter the country. A 10-minute groveling apology doesn't undo the damage irresponsible social media posts cause, especially given the recent history.

Left narrative

Keli Holiday had proper visa documentation and was given no explanation for why the authorities canceled it. Chatfield's post was a poorly worded joke about incel culture — not a genuine call to action — and she apologized sincerely. Canceling a musician's tour over his partner's year-old social media content is a serious overreach with no transparent justification.
