Armed Man Breaching Mar-a-Lago Perimeter Shot Dead

Are Democrats inciting violence with anti-Trump rhetoric or do Republicans share blame with their own divisive language?

The Spin

Republican narrative

Democrats have fostered a dangerous climate of hatred and violence that directly targets conservatives, resulting in multiple assassination attempts against Trump and actual murders like Charlie Kirk's. Mainstream Democratic figures have spent years casting Trump as a fascist and existential threat to democracy. When leaders use that kind of language, they should not be surprised when unstable individuals act on it.

Democratic narrative

Political violence has absolutely no place in America, but Republicans are not absolved of responsibility. They cannot simultaneously stoke fears about "enemies within," call opponents criminals and traitors, and then point fingers when the climate of rage they helped create turns dangerous. Leaders who have made demonization their default cannot wash their hands of the consequences. Enough is enough.
