The Spin

Pro-establishment narrative

Anthropic's new AI & Rule of Law team is exactly the kind of forward-thinking work democracy needs right now. Powerful AI will reshape courts, elections and legislative bodies, and having researchers inside a frontier lab studying those vulnerabilities — rather than just theorizing from the outside — gives this effort real teeth. Protecting constitutional norms before AI erodes them is smart, responsible governance.

Establishment-critical narrative

Anthropic's talk of protecting democracy via a team like this rings hollow when the company partners with SPLC-linked groups to define what counts as "extremist" content. These organizations — bankrolled by Biden's DHS to the tune of millions — have a track record of labeling ordinary conservative speech as hateful. That's one political faction using AI to police the other, which could pose serious risks to legal neutrality.
