Did Pakistan recruit ex-soldiers to destabilize Nuristan or is the Taliban fabricating a story to hide its sheltering of terrorists?

The Spin

Pro-Afghanistan narrative

Pakistan once again demonstrated its belligerence in this latest transgression. Seeking to stir up chaos in Nuristan, it cynically employed desperate former soldiers with promises of asylum and salaries to destabilize its neighbor, an effort that Afghan forces repulsed with ease. Those who were deceived should save themselves and surrender to Afghan authorities before it is too late.

Pro-Pakistan narrative

Afghanistan has tabled these accusations without a single identity, document or shred of forensic evidence to support them. Clearly, this tale — like the video on social media — is a total fabrication designed to distract from the documented reality that the Taliban regime uses Afghan soil to protect terrorist groups, which use the country as a launchpad for deadly attacks.
