The Spin

Right narrative

Street takeovers like this are a direct result of police inaction, policies promoted by liberals like Mayor Mamdani. Over 100 cars descended on a quiet Queens community, a ring of fire lit up the street and three people smashed a police windshield while drivers sped off. From drag racing in Queens to migrant-induced squalor spreading throughout the rest of the city, local lawmakers are right to demand answers from the NYPD about how this level of chaos goes undetected and unpunished.

Left narrative

New York has seen a historic crime drop, including during the years of compassionate policing. While residents in the city's hardest-hit neighborhoods consistently rank public disorder as top concerns, they're still excited about Mamdani, who's distanced himself from anti-police rhetoric and worked to prioritize both compassion for the poor and homeless as well as the victims of crime. This balanced approach is what can and should keep New York one of the safest among major cities.
