The Spin

Republican narrative

Unfortunately, much like the nation's education system, the Smithsonian has become a platform for political indoctrination rather than factual education, and it's time to reverse this trend by all means necessary. This isn't about erasing or altering anyone's history, but about providing the proper context for the events depicted and injecting positivity into the displays.

Democratic narrative

This is both a whitewashing of U.S. history and a political witch hunt against anything Trump doesn't like. It's not a coincidence that most of the content the White House found objectionable related to race, gender, slavery, immigration and people who've crossed the president in the past. This will have a chilling effect on America's art and history telling.
