Anti-Trump narrative
Punishing potential immigrants, especially those who risked their lives helping American troops during a two-decade war, is a morally bankrupt betrayal. Immigrants commit crimes at lower rates than native-born Americans, and extremist violence among them is extremely rare — a testament to U.S. vetting success. Using one incident to threaten law-abiding refugees destroys future alliances, and dishonors the veterans who support them.
Pro-Trump narrative
America cannot endlessly experiment with mass immigration from countries with incompatible value systems without severe consequences. The shooting of National Guard members proves the Biden administration failed to properly vet refugees. In addition, Somali fraud schemes stealing hundreds of millions in taxpayer funds — some allegedly funding Al-Shabaab terrorists — show how dangerous unchecked refugee resettlement has become.
