The Spin

Narrative A

Cambodia's relentless aggression has forced Thailand to defend its sovereignty after repeated ceasefire violations. Thai forces had no choice but to respond after Cambodia launched approximately 5,000 rockets from BM-21 launchers into civilian areas and continued planting landmines that maimed Thai soldiers. Thailand stands ready for peace, but only after Cambodia stops its attacks and demonstrates genuine commitment to ending hostilities.

Narrative B

Thailand's military escalation represents clear aggression against a smaller neighbor that had already achieved a favorable ceasefire. Cambodia has no incentive to violate peace agreements that benefited the country, while Thailand's unpopular truce and upcoming elections create obvious political pressure to restart conflict. Thai F-16 strikes on Cambodian territory and attacks on cultural sites like Ta Krabei Temple expose Bangkok's true territorial ambitions.
