Sarah Palin loses defamation retrial against New York Times
MSNBC3 days ago
Palin's attempt to sue the New York Times is part of a Conservative-led effort to try and overthrow the landmark ruling of the U.S. Supreme Court in 1964, in the case of New York Times vs. Sullivan, where the legal standard of "absolute malice" was established. This latest case was an honest mistake and that's why it was dismissed.
The bare bones of it is that, after the shooting in 2017, the New York Times ran an article that wrongly suggested Palin's campaign may have motivated an earlier shooting. After the damage was done, it issued a meager apology and never paid for its mistake.
