The Spin

Republican narrative

Maxwell has done bad things and is not quite a trustworthy person. Yet, she is the only one who can uncover the truth about Epstein's crimes and help hold all perpetrators accountable — and one who is self-motivated to tell the truth now. Given that this issue has become a significant distraction for the president as legacy media promotes a misinformation campaign against him, one should not rule out a deal with Maxwell.

Democratic narrative

Trump is capable of anything to save his own skin, so it's all but surprising that he is now dangling a pardon over Ghislaine Maxwell — who his first Justice Department called a liar — just as he did with key witnesses in the Russia interference case. Given that Maxwell has motivation to say things Trump wants, one must expect his administration and supporters will soon start to describe her as a victim of Epstein.
