The Spin

Pro-establishment narrative

The university did not want to involve the NYPD but it was necessary after protesters threatened the safety of the community and violated a number of rules and policies. Disruptions to academic activity as well as any form of violence, discrimination or antisemitism will not be tolerated on campus.

Establishment-critical narrative

As long as Columbia University continues to fund and profit from imperialist violence, the people will continue to resist in protest. Repression breeds resistance. If the university escalates repression, the people will continue to escalate disruptions on the campus.

Pro-Trump narrative

The Trump administration is reviewing the visa status of the trespassers and vandals who took over Columbia University's library. Pro-Hamas thugs are no longer welcome in America.
