The Spin

Democratic narrative

Under the Trump administration, the DOJ is punishing prosecutors for simply doing their jobs and telling the truth about Jan. 6. These prosecutors accurately described the events of that day, yet they were placed on leave and locked out of their offices. This represents flat-out corruption where federal employees face retaliation for refusing to bend to false narratives about the violent insurrection.

Republican narrative

These two prosecutors rightfully faced consequences for making inflammatory misrepresentations about Jan. 6 events in official court documents. Their description turned biased political rhetoric into a sentencing memo that had nothing to do with the actual case. Professional prosecutors should stick to facts relevant to their cases instead of pushing partisan talking points in legal filings.
