Bill C-2 addresses legitimate security and safety concerns many Canadians have had for years. It will clamp down on unqualified asylum claims, grant powers to restrict immigration, and equip authorities with the tools they need to combat sophisticated criminal networks. These measures will strengthen Canada’s sovereignty and ensure the safety of its law-abiding citizenry.
The so-called “Strong Borders Act” is anything but. For years, the Liberals promised they would tackle the challenges Canada faces at its border, and for years they failed to do so. This time is no different. The bill does not create a unified command to protect Canada’s sovereignty, instead it persists with an ineffective, fractured system that will continue to fail the Canadian people.
