UN Special Envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg arrived in the Houthi-controlled Yemeni capital Sanaa on Monday to take part in national and regional meetings as part of a push to advance peace talks to end the civil war in the country.
He last visited Sanaa in May 2023. Since then, the Houthis and Yemen's internationally recognized government committed to a peace process but tensions between the warring sides have further escalated amid the conflict in Gaza.
Yemen is at the brink of returning to a full-scale conflict amid regional escalation, but peace is definitely possible as long as the warring sides are able to demonstrate their commitment through meaningful actions. It's time to finally implement a roadmap toward an inclusive political process.
Hans Grundberg went to Sanaa to offer nothing new in a shameful attempt to try to put the international community against Yemen's Salvation Government while other parties continue to refrain from implementing the roadmap to peace. Make no mistake, it's America and its allies that are hindering peace in Yemen.
