The Facts

  • Michael Roman, a co-defendant of former Pres. Donald Trump and several others in the Georgia racketeering case related to alleged attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, Monday filed a motion accusing Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade.

  • Roman, a former Trump campaign staffer, alleges Willis hired Wade despite their relationship, and that Wade paid for vacations the couple took with funds paid to Wade’s law firm by the county.

The Spin

Pro-Trump narrative

It never fails to surprise when someone who's overzealously pursuing someone for corruption charges actually turns out to be seeped in corruption. The relationship between Willis and Wade, in addition to their unethical coordination with the Biden administration, should end this part of the Democrats' witch hunt against Trump.

Anti-Trump narrative

At best, this is a human resources matter, because it's definitely not prosecutorial misconduct. It doesn’t matter what kind of relationship the two prosecutors of this case have — the evidence is still the evidence, and there's no conflict of interest because the two prosecutors are on the same side. This is just another desperate attempt by Trump and his cronies to avoid answering for their crimes.
