The Facts

  • Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan stated on Saturday that 34-year-old convicted murderer Danelo Cavalcante was spotted on a residential surveillance camera early that day in Pocopson Township, about 1.5 miles away from the Pennsylvania prison he fled on Thursday.

  • The sighting reportedly occurred at roughly 12:30am in the 1800 block of Lenape Road, with DA Ryan adding that Cavalcante matches the description of a man that allegedly attempted to break into a home at 11:30pm in the 1000 block of the Ballintree Lane in Pocopson Township.

The Spin

Right narrative

All this mess, including the cold-blooded killing of Deborah Brandao in front of her two children, could have been prevented if the US had put serious measures in place to tackle illegal migration, as Cavalcante — who is also wanted in Brazil for murder — unlawfully crossed the border on a date that still remains to be determined.

Left narrative

While the manhunt for Cavalcante may reinforce a perception that illegal immigration leads to higher crime rates, the fact is that there's no evidence undocumented populations have had any effect on violent crime trends. This dangerous criminal is an exception among individuals who typically come to America to find work and support the US economy.
