Stephan Cannon, 26, was convicted on Wed. of killing retired St. Louis, Mo., police captain David Dorn while he attempted to protect a friend's business during the 2020 George Floyd riots.
Dorn, 77, responded on June 2 to alarms going off at Lee's Pawn and Jewelry in northern St. Louis, firing off warning shots to deter a group looting the store before being shot by Cannon.
Justice has been served for the family of a true hero, despite the lack of coverage from the mainstream media who ignored this incident in an effort to portray the riots as peaceful. Dorn devoted his life and career to keeping others safe, and rioters took his life while they were ironically protesting another death. This is a small but significant victory for the victims of those riots.
This verdict should be celebrated, but not seen as a victory for the Right who have shamefully politicized Dorn's death. Although he was killed during a BLM protest, that doesn't mean he was against the movement - he's not a symbol, just a good cop struck down doing what he loved.
