Chicago teachers union votes to return to remote learning due to coronavirus surge
FOX NewsNov 25, 2021
The Chicago Teacher's Union has voted to suspend their remote work action, ending a standoff with public school officials that led to five days of cancelled classes.
In an earlier vote last Tuesday, 73% of union members called for remote teaching until COVID cases reduce 'substantially'.
Virtual learning damages children's educational and social development. Omicron is a low-risk variant; it doesn't justify industrial action.
The union does not take this action lightly. COVID hospitalizations have reached a record high, and classes cannot be taught safely in person.
