Saudi says Houthis target Mecca, warn of 'red line'

The Spin

Sending a drone toward Mecca crosses a line no one should even approach, and Saudi air defenses were right to blast it out of the sky. Threatening the holiest city in Islam and the millions of pilgrims who travel there isn't warfare, it's terrorism against worshippers. Egypt, Pakistan and 57 Muslim nations said it plainly, and the Houthis deserve a deterrent response that ends this recklessness.

The Mecca story is a convenient propaganda line meant to win Muslim sympathy while Saudi warplanes pound Yemeni schools, bridges and roads. Yemeni strikes have hit oil terminals and military bases, not holy sites, and no evidence backs the claim otherwise. A kingdom flying hundreds of airstrikes in a single week and killing children shouldn't get to lecture anyone about sanctity.
