Jaguar Land Rover remains part of a strong British manufacturing base worth building on for the future. Government should stand ready to partner on serious long-term investment, not hand out bailouts every time a company restructures. Ministers running businesses from Whitehall would be a far worse outcome for workers than a firm making its own tough calls.
Four thousand British jobs are gone because red tape, bad regulation and some of the highest energy costs in the developed world are suffocating industry. The ZEV mandate fines manufacturers for failing to sell cars families don't actually want, while taxpayer money subsidizes foreign producers. Scrap the mandate, slash industrial energy costs and stop sacrificing British workers to green dogma.
