The Spin

The conviction of Hong Kong Alliance leaders is a landmark moment for the rule of law, proving that hiding political agendas behind human rights language doesn't make those agendas legal. Calling to end CPC leadership isn't free speech — it's incitement to subvert the constitutional order that underpins Hong Kong's very stability. The National Security Law exists precisely for this, and this verdict sets a critical precedent.

Convicting activists for organizing peaceful Tiananmen vigils isn't upholding law — it's criminalizing memory and conscience. For decades, Hong Kong stood as the one place on Chinese soil where the Tiananmen dead could be publicly honored, and that legacy is now being deliberately erased. Chow Hang-tung and Lee Cheuk-yan are prisoners of conscience who should be freed immediately.
