Mexico's attorney general formally accused former U.S. Ambassador Ken Salazar of misleading Mexican authorities about the 2024 capture of Sinaloa cartel co-founder Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada, after reports emerged that the FBI displayed the aircraft used in the operation at the War Eagles Air Museum in Santa Teresa, N.M.

In July 2024, Zambada was lured onto a small plane inside Mexico by fellow trafficker Joaquín Guzmán López, a son of Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán, and flown to an airport near El Paso, Texas, where U.S. authorities arrested both men.
