Zuckerberg Says AI Agents Advancing More Slowly Than Anticipated

Is this a transformative bet that will pay off or an overhyped gamble that's already showing cracks?

The Spin

Meta's AI push is building toward something massive, with 2026 shaping up as the year AI fundamentally transforms how the company operates. By investing in AI-native tooling and flattening team structures, Meta is already seeing solo contributors accomplish what once required entire teams. Continuing down this path, Meta will only deliver further success in building AI superintelligence for all.

Meta's $145 billion AI bet hasn't delivered results, with even Zuckerberg admitting the strategy has not come together, despite drastic changes at the company, including cutting 10% of the workforce and reassigning a further 7,000 to AI-focused roles. If the biggest players in tech are still figuring it out behind closed doors, it should give everyone pause about the AI hype.
