The 98-page report, released on the 10th anniversary of MAID being legalized in Canada, was the product of six committee meetings held between March 24 and May 5, 2026, during which 44 witnesses testified and 32 written briefs were received.

Justice Minister Sean Fraser said the government would review the committee's report and testimony before deciding on next steps, with a response deadline of July 11. New legislation would be required to change the current March 2027 expansion timeline.
