Turkey, Saudi Arabia Sign Rail & Logistics Deals

The Spin

Turkey and Saudi Arabia's new railway deal is a direct shot at Israel's regional standing, deliberately cutting the Jewish state out of major trade routes. Ankara openly boasted that the project would reduce Israel's influence, and it effectively kills the US-backed India-Middle East-Europe corridor that depended on Saudi-Israeli normalization. Netanyahu's refusal to budge on Palestinian statehood handed rivals the opening to build around Israel entirely.

The Turkey-Saudi railway deal is about building a smarter, more resilient regional trade network — not targeting any one country. The agreements focus on rail technology, logistics hubs, workforce training and reviving historic corridors disrupted by years of conflict. With test freight runs from Turkey through Iraq to Saudi Arabia already proving the route works, this is straightforward infrastructure diplomacy that strengthens connectivity across the Middle East.
