The Spin

Libya is being pushed past its limits — with 900,000 migrants in a country of just 7 million, Libyans have every right to demand their government act. The UNHCR's presence fuels suspicion that migration burdens are being offloaded onto an already fractured nation for Europe's benefit. Addressing this crisis through law and state institutions isn't xenophobia — it's basic national sovereignty.

Migrants in Libya aren't a policy problem — they're human beings being abducted, tortured, raped and sold into forced labor by criminal networks with ties to Libyan authorities. The UN runs zero resettlement programs in Libya, making protest claims flat-out false. Deporting vulnerable people back into this documented cycle of abuse violates international law and basic human decency.
