The U.S. is winning the AI race against China, and forcing companies to hand over advanced models to the government would've been a serious blocker to that lead. A national framework that clears out patchwork state regulations is the smarter path forward.

The AI executive order got killed because anti-"doomer" tech billionaires like Musk and Zuckerberg lobbied against it overnight, not because of any serious policy concern.
