The evidence against Weinstein in the Mann case was always shaky — warm emails, continued meetups and years of leaning on him for career support don't paint the picture of a victim. Mann's own actions after the alleged assault undercut her account. A consensual relationship built on mutual benefit is not a crime, and the defense made that case compellingly.
Two hung juries and still no acquittal — that's not reasonable doubt, that's a divided public reckoning with an uncomfortable truth. Weinstein is already serving time for convictions in two states and will likely die in prison regardless. Prosecutors must decide if putting Jessica Mann through a fourth trial serves justice or just prolongs her ordeal for a verdict that keeps slipping away.
