Inclusion Canada CEO Krista Carr said she was "extremely pleased" with the legislation, while Helen Long, CEO of Dying with Dignity Canada, said she was "dismayed," calling it a barrier for individuals "who are suffering and who wish to exercise choice."

Alberta Health Services recorded 1,242 MAID deaths in the province in 2025, with Track 2 MAID deaths rising 136 per cent between 2021 and 2025. Quebec and Alberta are moving in opposite directions on MAID policy, with Quebec expanding access and Alberta restricting it.
