Yemen's humanitarian catastrophe stems directly from Houthi terrorism and Iranian interference that has sabotaged peace efforts and destroyed state institutions. The Houthis remain the Yemeni people's primary enemy, dismantling governance, deepening the crisis through arbitrary detention of UN personnel and blocking aid delivery to millions. Any peace process ignoring the need to end the Houthi coup and disarm these militias will only prolong suffering and regional instability.

Catastrophic funding cuts by Western donors have reversed a decade of humanitarian progress and pushed 18 million Yemenis toward starvation. International neglect and slashed aid budgets have forced closure of nutrition programs and health facilities, leaving families to collect wild plants just to survive. The crisis isn't inevitable — immediate donor action and restored funding can prevent widespread famine before mortality rates spike.
