DOJ Will Not Investigate Fatal ICE Shooting, Probes Minnesota ProtestorsProtesters and Politicians

Is the DOJ right to not bow down to pressure, or does this mark further politicization of the department?

The Spin

The DOJ does not automatically investigate every time that a federal agent is forced to defend themselves from someone putting their lives in danger. The department will investigate when it's appropriate to investigate and it will not bow down to pressure from the media or politicians.

Despite videos undermining official accounts that the ICE agent was endangered, in addition to evidence showing that it was several minutes before Good received any medical attention, investigations are only being pursued against local protestorsprotesters and politicians who are seeking justice. President Trump continues to run roughshod over the traditional independence of the DOJ.

Metaculus Prediction

There is a 50% chance that the average number of noncitizens removed annually from the U.S. for fiscal years 2026 through 2028 will be at least 453,000, according to the Metaculus prediction community.
