The new guidance emphasizes protein at every meal and encourages people to eat 1.2 to 1.6 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight, instead of the previous recommendation of 0.8 grams per kilogram. The guidelines also tout full-fat dairy as an excellent source of nutrients.
